Cette conférence de la Chaire Stephen-A.-Jarislowsky en gestion des affaires internationales sera présentée en anglais.

In today’s globalized economy, companies largely use patents, trademarks and industrial designs to invest in new markets. However, these intellectual property assets are nationally protected, under the relevant law of countries where protection is sought. The evolving landscape of the use of these assets in today’s international business has demonstrated that they some Meta principles that apply equally well to all countries, regardless of their history, geography and stage of development. In fact, statistics from the BRICS countries, but more notably from China and India give enough evidence that intellectual property rights are no longer the privileged tools at the disposal of developed countries.
