La Chaire Stephen-A.-Jarislowsky en gestion des affaires internationales, le Groupe d'études et de recherche sur l'Asie contemporaine (GERAC) de l’Université Laval et le ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec vous invitent à une conférence donnée par Son Excellence M. Maeng-ho Shin, ambassadeur de la République de Corée au Canada.
Pour l’occasion, Son Excellence abordera le sujet de la dynamique de la géopolitique et de l’économie dans la péninsule coréenne.
La conférence sera présentée en anglais.
Biographie
His Excellency Maeng-ho Shin was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Canada in April 2017. Ambassador Shin is a career diplomat with over 30 years of experience.
Since 1985, Mr. Shin has served in a variety of areas with a particular focus on multilateral and security issues including those related to the North Korean nuclear issue. He also served as Director-General for International Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011), Director of the North Korean Nuclear Affairs Division of the Office of Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs (2006), and Deputy Spokesman (2010). His previous overseas postings include Belgium (1994), Ethiopia {1996), Austria (2002), Russia (2006), and San Francisco (2008). He also served as Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria from 2013 to 2016. Prior to coming to Canada, he acted as the Ambassador for International Security Affairs at MOFA in Seoul.
Ambassador Shin holds a B.A. in International Relations from Seoul National University (1983) and an M.A. from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C (1992).
