The mission of the Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in International Business is to promote and support research, training, and the transfer of knowledge to organizations in the field of international business. Its role is to contribute to the performance of organizations by developing knowledge in international business, organizing training for current and future executives, and offering professional assistance and consultancy services.

The Chair was created in June 2000 with the funds generously provided by Jarislowsky Fraser Limited, the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et des Exportations du Québec, the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec, the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, as well as Quebec’s Fonds de diversification de la Capitale-Nationale.

The Chair promotes fundamental theoretical research so as to build explanatory models of the new mode of interaction among the goals of business administration in the context of globalization. It also promotes action-research for industries to better integrate theories into action and help businesses in Québec and the rest of Canada meet the challenges of globalization. Furthermore, it encourages network research activities in order to fully exploit the synergies between different actors inside and outside Université Laval.
